HUNTINGTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO HEROIN DISTRIBUTION
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin announced today that a Huntington man pleaded guilty in federal court to distribution of heroin. Antonio Moore, 44, admitted that on January 17, 2012, he distributed 1.92 grams of heroin to a confidential informant working with the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT). Moore further admitted that on January 18, 2012, he distributed 2.75 grams of heroin to an informant working for MDENT and on January 20, 2012, he distributed 2.25 grams of heroin to an informant.
Moore also admitted that he and a known associate participated in two additional heroin transactions in January. All of the illegal heroin transactions took place in Charleston.
On January 24, 2012, law enforcement agents arrested the defendant and his associate. At the time of the arrest, MDENT agents found approximately $900 in the defendant’s pocket which included two $100 bills that were used in a previous controlled drug buy. Also during the arrest, investigators located approximately 14.49 grams of heroin underneath the defendant’s vehicle.
On January 24, 2012, law enforcement agents executed a search warrant at a residence occupied by the defendant’s associate. Agents seized a 9-millimeter pistol and a .22 caliber pistol from the defendant’s belongings that were at the residence.
Moore faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine when he is sentenced on November 13, 2012 by United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston.
The Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT) conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Hanks is in charge of the prosecution.
