Salem Resident Enters Plea
in Federal Court

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 26 year old Salem, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on March 8, 2012, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: BRANDON LEE FLOYD entered a plea of guilty to one count of forging an endorsement on a stolen Treasury check which was issued to a Veterans Administration beneficiary who had deceased. During the period of January 2, 2010, to June 1, 2011, FLOYD stole and forged a total of eighteen beneficiary checks worth $11,898. FLOYD, who is free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew R. Cogar and was investigated by the Veterans Administration Office of Inspector General and the United States Secret Service.
