Martinsburg Resident Indicted by Federal Grand Jury
Appears in Federal Court

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - A 35 year old Martinsburg, West Virginia, resident named in a seven-count Indictment returned on January 18, 2012, by a Federal Grand Jury sitting in Martinsburg, has been arrested and had his initial appearance hearing before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel on February 29, 2012.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: ANTOINE JAMINE BROWN a/k/a “D” is charged in Counts One through Six of the Indictment with the distribution of crack cocaine. Count Seven charges BROWN with the possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. BROWN, who was released on bond pending an arraignment hearing scheduled for March 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., faces a maximum exposure of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000 on each count.

The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber and was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Martinsburg Police Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.

It should be noted that the charges contained in the Indictment are merely accusations and not evidence of guilt, and that each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
