Ohio Resident Sentenced on Firearms Charge

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 46-year old Cumberland, Ohio, was sentenced on June 11, 2012, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that ROGER DALE STERLING was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. STERLING entered a plea of guilty on April 10, 2012, to one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition on December 14, 2011, in Moundsville, West Virginia, after having previously been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year. STERLING was previously convicted in Brooke County, West Virginia, for the offense of Kidnaping and in Arizona for Attempted Fraudulent Schemes. STERLING, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated Federal institution on July 11, 2012.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Perri and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
