Wheeling Resident Enters Plea to Heroin Charge

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A23 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on July 10, 2012, in United States District Court in Wheeling before Magistrate Judge James E. Seibert.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: KEVIN JAMES THOMPSON entered a plea of guilty to “Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin” on March 17, 2012, in Wheeling. As part of his plea, THOMPSON has agreed to the forfeiture of $1,068 which was seized from him on March 17, 2012. THOMPSON, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces up to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000.

THOMPSON was previously sentenced on July 3, 2008, to 57 months imprisonment and four years of supervised release for “Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine” on March 7, 2008, in Wheeling. On November 3, 2011, THOMPSON’s sentence was reduced to 37 months imprisonment and four years of supervised release pursuant to the crack re-sentencing guidelines. THOMPSON has agreed to admit to the Petition to Revoke the terms of his supervised release filed by the United States Probation Office and will be sentenced to a separate term of incarceration to the violation and that sentence will be served consecutively to the sentence imposed by the Court as a result of his plea.

The case was prosecuted by USA Ihlenfeld and investigated by the Wheeling Police Department.
