Federal Inmate Enters Plea and is
Sentenced in Federal Court

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A USP Hazelton inmate entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced on January 23, 2012, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: GERROD THOMPSON, age 33, an inmate at the satellite camp at USP Hazelton, entered a plea of guilty to escape on February 12, 2011, when THOMPSON drove a BOP truck to visit his wife without authority to leave the property of the prison. GERROD was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment to be served consecutively with his current 120-month sentence.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brandon S. Flower and were investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Services at USP Hazelton.
