Two Individuals Sentenced in Federal Court

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - Two individuals were sentenced on January 5, 2012, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

NATHANIEL TARVER, a 23-year old federal inmate, was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment to be served consecutively to the 240-month sentence he is currently serving. TARVER entered a plea of guilty on September 29, 2011, to one count of obstruction of justice. On August 16, 2010, in connection to an official proceeding at USP Hazelton,TARVER, corruptly obstructed and impeded the proceedings by providing false information to a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) by stating he did not know or remember anything about an assault of a correctional officer. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brandon S. Flower and was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Services at USP Hazelton.

DEBORAH LONG, age 42, of Morgantown, West Virginia, was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. LONG entered a plea of guilty on September 27, 2011, to one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin in Monongalia County between June of 2009 and June of 2010. LONG was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew R. Cogar and was investigated by the West Virginia State Police-Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
