Three Members of Oxycodone Organization
Sentenced in Federal Court

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA - Three more members of an oxycodone organization were sentenced this week in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

CRAIG VEGA, age 40, of Moundsville, West Virginia, was sentenced to 70 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. VEGA entered a plea of guilty on December 2, 2011, to one count of conspiracy to distribute Schedule II controlled substances, including oxycodone, from February 2010 to March 26, 2011, throughout the Ohio Valley. As part of his plea, VEGA admitted his involved in the distribution of between 5,000 and 10,000 oxycodone pills and agreed to forfeiture of $2,110, seized during a traffic stop on September 25, 2010. VEGA, who is free on bond pending sentencing, will self-report to the designated Federal institution by April 23, 2012.

AMY JO EVERETT, age 31, of Moundsville, was sentenced to 57 months imprisonment to be followed by two years of supervised release. EVERETT entered a plea of guilty on December 27, 2011, to one count of conspiracy to engage in interstate travel in aid of a racketeering enterprise from July of 2010 to September 2, 2010. EVERETT traveled in interstate commerce from the Northern District of West Virginia, to Jacksonville, Daytona Beach and West Palm Beach, Florida, to obtain prescription pills, mostly oxycodone, which were then redistributed within the Northern District of West Virginia. EVERETT was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

JENNIFER JOHNSON, age 35, of Moundsville, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. JOHNSON entered a plea of guilty on December 19, 2011, to one count of conspiracy to launder monetary instruments from February of 2010 to April of 2011 in Ohio and Marshall Counties. As part of her plea, JOHNSON agreed to the forfeiture of $3,571 identified as proceeds from drug activities. JOHNSON, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated Federal institution on March 21, 2012.

The case was prosecuted by USA Ihlenfeld and Assistant United States Attorney John C. Parr. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the West Virginia State Police-Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Ohio Valley Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, the Moundsville Police Department, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation Division, the Martins Ferry Police Department, the Volusia Bureau of Investigations - Central Florida HIDTA, and the Drug Enforcement Administration in Orlando, Florida. The Ohio Valley Drug & Violent Crime Task Force consists of the Wheeling Police Department, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
