Martinsburg Resident Convicted on Drug Charges

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 37 year old Martinsburg, West Virginia, resident was convicted on February 22, 2012, after a two-day jury trial, before Chief Judge John Preston Bailey.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: LESLIE DOMINIC MUSGROVE was convicted on one count of conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine HCL and more than 50 grams of methamphetamine from October of 2010 to April 9, 2011 in Berkeley and Hardy Counties within the Northern District of West Virginia; and one count of possession with intent to distribute 783.7 grams of cocaine HCL on November 27, 2010, in Moorefield, West Virginia. Testimony at trial indicated that MUSGROVE was receiving cocaine from a source in Washington, DC and that the methamphetamine was being brought in from Arizona.

MUSGROVE, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 5 to 40 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000 on each count.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Erin K. Reisenweber and Thomas O. Mucklow and was investigated by the Potomac Highlands Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, consisting of officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigations, and Mineral County Sheriff’s Department.
