Wheeling Man Sentenced to Prison for
Heroin Trafficking

 

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 23-year old Wheeling man was sentenced to prison in federal court this week by Chief Judge John Preston Bailey.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that KEVIN JAMES THOMPSON was sentenced to 22 months and 1 day imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release for a heroin trafficking charge. THOMPSON was sentenced as a result of his felony conviction for “Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin” for an incident that occurred in March of 2012 in Wheeling. He was also sentenced for violating conditions of his supervised release from a 2008 conviction for “Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine”, and those prison terms were ordered to run consecutively by Judge Bailey.

THOMPSON also must forfeit $1,068, an amount which was seized from him at the time of his arrest in March on the heroin charge.

THOMPSON was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Ihlenfeld and investigated by the Wheeling
Police Department.
