Ohio Resident Enters Plea to Firearms Charge

 

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 46-year old Cumberland, Ohio, resident entered a plea of guilty on April 10, 2012, in United States District Court in Wheeling before Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that ROGER DALE STERLING entered a plea of guilty to one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition on December 14, 2011, in Moundsville, West Virginia, after having previously been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year. STERLING was previously convicted in Brooke County, West Virginia, for the offense of Kidnaping and in Arizona for Attempted Fraudulent Schemes. STERLING, who is free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys David J. Perri and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
