Martinsburg Resident Enters Plea in Federal Court

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 26 year old Martinsburg, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on September 7, 2011, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that: MARCUS LASHAWN WINFREY entered a plea of guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine on November 6, 2007, in Martinsburg. WINFREY, who is free on bond pending sentencing, stipulated in Court that he has a prior conviction in the Circuit Court of Berkeley County for possession with intent to distribute a controlled drug substance and, therefore, faces a maximum exposure of 30 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow and was investigated by the Martinsburg Police Department.
