Twelve Sentenced on Drug Charges

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — Twelve individuals were sentenced on May 9, 10, and 11, 2011, in United States District Court in Martinsburg by Chief Judge John Preston Bailey.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

BEVERLY JANE HESTER, age 40, of Martinsburg, and KEVIN MAURICE ROBINSON, age 25, of Ranson, West Virginia, were each sentenced to 120 months imprisonment to be followed by eight years supervised release. HESTER and ROBINSON each entered a plea of guilty on January 21, 2011, to one count of an Indictment charging them with the distribution of cocaine base on April 1, 2010. HESTER and ROBINSON are in federal custody.

JERRY SCOTT, age 29, of Charles Town, West Virginia, was sentenced to six months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. SCOTT entered a plea of guilty on January 24, 2011, to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of cocaine base on March 19, 2010. SCOTT is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by the Charles Town Police Department, the Ranson Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.

COREY DYLAN FILLMORE, age 39, of Martinsburg, was sentenced to 110 months imprisonment to be followed by six years supervised release. FILLMORE entered a plea of guilty on October 15, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of “crack” cocaine on April 10, 2008, in Martinsburg. FILLMORE is in federal custody. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, consisting of officers from the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Martinsburg Police Department, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.PRESS RELEASE

SHAVON LYNN CRAIG, age 27, of Martinsburg, was sentenced to 92 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. CRAIG entered a plea of guilty on February 16, 2011, to one count of an Indictment charging CRAIG with the distribution of “crack” cocaine on April 16, 2009. CRAIG is in federal custody. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force.

TRAVIS DANTE MCMEANS, age 30, of Martinsburg, was sentenced to 92 months imprisonment to be followed by six years supervised release. MCMEANS entered a plea of guilty on January 21, 2011, to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of “crack” cocaine on December 20, 2007, in Inwood, West Virginia. MCMEANS was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force.

JAMES DANIEL TAWNEY, IV, age 25, of Petersburg, West Virginia, was sentenced to 63 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. TAWNEY entered a plea of guilty on February 3, 2011, to a one-count Information charging him with the distribution of methamphetamine on May 31, 2010, in Petersburg. TAWNEY is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated federal institution. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Potomac Highlands Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigations, and Mineral County Sheriff’s Department.

JONATHAN RAY WARE, age 31, of Martinsburg, was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment to be followed by four years supervised release. WARE entered a plea of guilty on January 10, 2011, to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of “crack” cocaine on December 16, 2008, in Falling Waters. WARE is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated federal institution. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber. The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force.

STARTISHA ELIZABETH KEPLINGER, age 22, of Upper Tract, West Virginia, was sentenced to 36 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. KEPLINGER entered a plea of guilty on February 3, 2011, to one count of an Indictment charging her with the distribution of methamphetamine on May 31, 2010. KEPLINGER is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated federal institution. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Potomac Highlands Drug & Violent Crime Task Force.

OMAR HURTADO PADILLA, age 28, of Winchester, Virginia, was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. PADILLA entered a plea of guilty on December 15, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of cocaine hydrochloride, also known as “coke,” on August 2, 2010, in Berkeley County, West Virginia. PADILLA is in federal custody. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force.

TRICIA LYNN DEAN, age 35, of Kearneysville, West Virginia, was sentenced to 12 months and one day imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. DEAN entered a plea of guilty on July 15, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging her with the distribution of “crack” cocaine on February 25, 2010. DEAN is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated federal institution. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

STEPHEN BLAKE LANDIS, JR., age 43, of Dorcas, West Virginia, was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. LANDIS entered a plea of guilty on February 24, 2011, to a one-count Information charging him with the distribution of methamphetamine in Petersburg, West Virginia. LANDIS is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated federal institution. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Potomac Highlands Drug & Violent Crime Task Force.
