Monongalia County Resident Sentenced on Heroin Charge

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 22 year old Monongalia County, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on July 6, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that JEREMY MATHEWS was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment to be followed by six years supervised release. MATHEWS entered a plea of guilty on March 21, 2011, to one count of an Indictment charging him with aiding and abetting in the distribution of heroin within 1,000 feet of West Virginia University on September 9, 2009.

MATHEWS is in custody.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley. The case was investigated by the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
