Entered Guilty Pleas to Heroin Charges

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 34 year old Brooklyn, New York, resident entered guilty pleas on January 18, 2011, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that JAMELL MASON, also known as “JAH,” also known as “TREMAINE MASON,”entered guilty pleas to two counts of an Indictment charging him with two separate offenses of possession with intent to distribute heroin on June 5, 2008, and on June 18, 2008, in Martinsburg.

MASON, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum penalty of 30 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000 on each count.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Zelda E. Wesley and Erin K. Reisenweber. The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Martinsburg Police Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.
