Five Eastern Panhandle Residents Enter
Guilty Pleas to Cocaine Charges

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — Five Eastern Panhandle residents entered guilty pleas on January 21 and 24, 2011, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

BEVERLY JANE HESTER, age 41, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging her with the distribution of cocaine base on April 1, 2010. HESTER, who was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years to life imprisonment and a fine of $8,000,000.

KEVIN MAURICE ROBINSON, age 25, of Ranson, West Virginia, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of cocaine base on April 1, 2010. ROBINSON, who is in federal custody, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years to life imprisonment and a fine of $8,000,000.

JERRY LEE SCOTT, age 28, also of Ranson, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of cocaine base on March 19, 2010. SCOTT, who is current free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000.

CARLA YVONNE SHAW, age 60, also of Ranson, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging her with aiding and abetting the distribution of cocaine base on April 8, 2010. SHAW, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by the Charles Town Police Department; the Ranson Police Department; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.

TRAVIS DANTE MCMEANS, age 30, of Martinsburg, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of cocaine base on December 20, 2007. MCMEANS, who is in federal custody, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, consisting of officers from the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Martinsburg Police Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.
