Falling Waters Resident Enters Guilty Plea
to Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 64 year old Falling Waters, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty today (January 24, 2011) in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that GUY GORDON MARSH entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with failure to register as a sex offender as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. In 2003, MARSH was convicted of sodomy in the State of Maryland and was required to register as a sex offender for 10 years following his conviction. In October 2010, the United States Marshal Service became aware that MARSH was residing in Falling Waters, West Virginia. A records check revealed that MARSH had not recorded a change of address with the State of Maryland, as required by law; nor had he registered as a sex offender in the State of West Virginia, as required by law.

MARSH, who is in federal custody, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber and was investigated by the United States Marshal Service.
