Weirton Resident Sentenced in Federal Court
WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 50-year old Weirton, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on July 29, 2011, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that: JOHN MICHAEL LIBERTO was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. LIBERTO entered a plea of guilty on November 23, 2010, to five counts of making a false statement on a credit card application. Specifically, on July 6, 2007; September 1, 2007; September 17, 2008; November 17, 2008; and in December of 2008 LIBERTO made false statements on credit card applications to obtain an account and a line of credit in the name of another individual. LIBERTO, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated Federal institution on September 29, 2011.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States David J. Perri and was investigated by United States Secret Service.
