Martinsburg Resident Enters Plea to Tax Charge
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 42 year old Martinsburg, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty today (August 22, 2011), in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that: VINCENT TYRONE GLOVER entered a plea of guilty to one count of conspiracy to prepare false tax returns and one count of preparing false tax returns. GLOVER took advantage of his position as a tax return preparer to prepare false returns which he submitted to the IRS and through which he received $141,298 in false tax refunds. GLOVER, who is on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on the conspiracy count and 5 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on the false filing count.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti and was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations and the West Virginia State Police.
