Two Defendants Entered Guilty Pleas
to Illegal Reentry into the United States

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — Two defendants entered guilty pleas today (September 1, 2010) in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that FERNANDO NAVARETTE ROSALES, age 35, and LORENZO OCAMPO VASQUEZ, age 38, each entered a plea of guilty to unlawfully entering the United States without obtaining the express consent of the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission to the United States.

VASQUEZ, who is currently in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

ROSALES, who is also in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,0000, due to his prior felony conviction.

The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber. The cases were investigated by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Eastern Regional Jail.
