Buckhannon Resident Entered Guilty Plea to Drug Charge

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA — A 23 year old Buckhannon, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on September 29, 2010, in United States District Court in Elkins before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that JOEL ANTHONY PERRY entered a plea of guilty to a one-count Information charging him with knowingly possessing pseudoephedrine, having reasonable cause to believe it would be used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine, on January 3, 2010, in Upshur County.

PERRY, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner. The case was investigated by the Buckhannon Police Department, the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.
