Fairmont Resident Sentenced on Firearms Violation

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 47 year old Barrackville, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on October 1, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that TERRY G. MEEKS was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. MEEKS entered a plea of guilty on June 22, 2010, to a one-count Information charging him with knowingly receiving and possessing a sawed-off shotgun on May 14, 2009, in Fairmont which was not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
MEEKS is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn Angus Morgan. The case was investigated by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
