North Carolina Resident Entered Guilty Plea
to Drug Charge in West Virginia
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 46 year old Oxford, North Carolina, resident entered a plea of guilty on October 13, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that ANDREW EDWARD HARGIS, JR. entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with conspiring to distribute oxycodone between July 2008 and October 2009 in Clarksburg and elsewhere.
HARGIS, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn Angus Morgan. It was investigated by the Veterans Administration - Office of Inspector General, United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Harrison/Lewis County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force. The Task Force consists of officers from the Clarksburg Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the Bridgeport Police Department, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
