Brooke County Resident Sentenced on Cocaine Charge

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA - A 19 year old Colliers, West Virginia, resident was sentenced today (October 25, 2010), in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that DAVEN BARISH was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. BARISH entered a plea of guilty on August 24, 2010, to one count of distribution of cocaine on April 16, 2010, in Colliers. As part of his plea, BARISH agreed to the forfeiture of digital scales, $780 of drug proceeds and two firearms that were discovered during a search warrant executed at his residence. He also admitted to being involved in the distribution of between 50 and 100 grams of cocaine. BARISH was ordered returned to jail. The sentence imposed will be served following resolution of pending state charges.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John C. Parr and was investigated by the West Virginia State Police-Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
