Braxton County Resident Sentenced to 6+ Years
on Firearms Violation


CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 39 year old Braxton County, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on May 5, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that ALEX NICHOLS was sentenced to 100 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. NICHOLS entered a plea of guilty on January 13, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging him with stealing five firearms from a federally licensed firearms dealer on October 13, 2009, in Braxton County.

NICHOLS was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $4,104.07.

NICHOLS is in federal custody.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
