Clarksburg Resident Sentenced
on Firearms Charge

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 35-year old Clarksburg, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on July 26, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that ENNIS CHARLES PAYNE was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. PAYNE entered a plea of guilty on April 21, 2010, to one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm on December 4, 2009, in Clarksburg after having previously been convicted of malicious wounding and grand larceny in the Circuit Court of Harrison County. PAYNE was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
