Two Upshur County Residents Arrested on
Methamphetamine Charges
ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA — Two Upshur County residents were arrested this week pursuant to an Indictment returned by a Federal Grand Jury on August 24, 2010.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that DAVID NELSON BURR, age 21, of French Creek, West Virginia, and GARRETT JAMES JANKOWSKI, age 20, of Tallmansville,West Virginia, were arrested by officers of the West Virginia State Police and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department on December 1, 2010. BURR and JANKOWSKI were named in a two-count Indictment charging them with one count of conspiracy to possess pseudoephedrine used to manufacture methamphetamine from July of 2008 to June 13, 2009, and one count of possession of pseudoephedrine used to manufacture methamphetamine on June 13, 2009, in Upshur County. If convicted, BURR and JANKOWSKI face a maximum exposure of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on each count
BURR and JANKOWSKI appeared before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull on December 2, 2010, and were released on bond pending trial.
The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner and was investigated by the West Virginia State Police and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.
