Pittsburgh Resident Sentenced to 10 Years for
Distribution of “Crack” within 1,000 feet of a Playground

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 39 year old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, resident was sentenced on August 20, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced that CARLTON TYLER, also known as “CALI,” was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment to be followed by six years supervised release. TYLER entered a plea of guilty on May 10, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of “crack” cocaine within 1,000 feet of the Monticello Avenue Playground on October 22, 2008, in Clarksburg.

TYLER is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn Angus Morgan. The case was investigated by the Harrison/Lewis County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the Clarksburg Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the Bridgeport Police Department, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
