Five Defendants Enter Guilty Pleas
to Various Federal Violations

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - Five defendants entered guilty pleas this week in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that:

JEREMY ALAN FIELDS, age 24, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, entered a plea of guilty on January 11, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging him with forging a doctor’s name on a prescription pad for oxycodone and presented it to be filled on June 2, 2009, in Martinsburg. FIELDS, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum penalty of four years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber. The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force and the West Virginia State Police. The Task Force consists of officers from the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Martinsburg Police Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.

RAY ALAN MEDLIN, age 36, of Manassas, Virginia, entered a plea of guilty on January 12, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging him with aiding and abetting the manufacture of marijuana in August 2009 in Inwood, West Virginia. MEDLIN, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force.

JAMES PLAISIR, age 31, of Falling Waters, West Virginia, entered a plea of guilty on January 12, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging him with the distribution of “crack” cocaine on February 9, 2007. PLAISIR, who is currently in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber. The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force.

WILLIAM CHARLES KINSER, age 57, of Carpendale, West Virginia, entered a plea of guilty on January 13, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm in December 2008. KINSER, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Ridgeley Police Department.

CLIFTON CURTIS SLAUGHTER III, age 21, of Martinsburg, entered a plea of guilty on January 13, 2010, to one count of an Indictment charging him with possession with intent to distribute “crack” cocaine in December 2008. SLAUGHTER, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum penalty of five to 40 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by the Martinsburg Police Department.
