Buckhannon Resident Entered Guilty Plea
to Drug Charge

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA — A 24 year old Buckhannon, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on September 3, 2009, in United States District Court in Elkins before Judge Robert E. Maxwell.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that ZACKARY STOKES entered a plea of guilty to a one-count Information charging him with possession of pseudoephedrine on January 6, 2008, in Upshur County, having reasonable cause to believe that it would be used to manufacture methamphetamine.

STOKES, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner. The case was investigated by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.
