Buckhannon Resident Convicted on
Methamphetamine Charges

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA — A 34 year old Buckhannon, West Virginia, resident was convicted on drug charges today by a federal trial jury in United States District Court in Elkins before Chief Judge John Preston Bailey.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that JEREMY TODD BROWN was convicted on three counts of a Superseding Indictment charging him with conspiring to possess with intent to distribute and to manufacture more than 50 grams of substances containing methamphetamine from the Fall of 2007 to July 7, 2009, in Upshur County, West Virginia (Count One); possession of material used in the manufacture of methamphetamine (Count Two); and possessing Pseudoephedrine to be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine (Count Three).

BROWN, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum penalty of five to 40 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000 on Count One; a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on Count Two; and a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000 on Count Three.

BROWN was acquitted on one count of possession of material used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner. The case was investigated by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office; the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation; and the Harrison/Lewis County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the Clarksburg Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the Bridgeport Police Department, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
