Clarksburg Resident Sentenced on Firearms Charge

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - A 29 year old Clarksburg, West Virginia, resident was sentenced today (October 8, 2009), in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that CHRISTOPHER STINSON was sentenced to 17 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. STINSON entered a plea of guilty on June 1, 2009, to one count of an Indictment charging him with knowingly possessing a firearm on March 4, 2008, in Clarksburg, after having previously been convicted of murder in the second degree in the Circuit Court of McDowell County. STINSON was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
