West Liberty Resident Sentenced
for Possession of Child Pornography

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 34 year old West Liberty, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on October 13, 2009, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that MATTHEW ARNOLD was sentenced to 51 months imprisonment to be followed by 10 years supervised release. ARNOLD entered a plea of guilty on July 7, 2009, to an Information charging him with knowingly possessing a computer disk that had been transported in interstate commerce by means of a computer and other material containing images of child pornography on August 28, 2006, in Wheeling.

ARNOLD is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley and was investigated by the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
