Harrison County Resident Entered Guilty Plea
To Unlawfully Possessing a Firearm

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 22 year old Harrison County resident entered a plea of guilty on April 30, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that CODY DYLAN RIGGS entered a plea of guilty to an Information charging RIGGS, who was previously convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year and prohibited from possessing firearms, with possessing an Ithaca rifle, Model M-49, .22 caliber, on September 29, 2008, in Harrison County. RIGGS was previously convicted of Robbery in the Circuit Court of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit of Brevard County, Florida.

RIGGS, who is currently in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
