Wheeling Resident Sentenced for
Distributing Marijuana from Wheeling Island Residence

 

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 21 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on May 6, 2009, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that SHAIN HAUK was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment to be followed by four years of supervised release. HAUK entered a plea of guilty on April 3, 2009, to one count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana from December 29, 2008, to February 12, 2009, within 1,000 feet of Madison Elementary School. As part of his plea, HAUK has agreed to forfeit $25,990.70 of drug proceeds, two firearms, a set of scales, and a camcorder containing recordings of HAUK and another individual with currency and marijuana, all of which were seized by agents during a search at HAUK’s residence on February 12, 2009.

HAUK was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John C. Parr. The case was investigated by the West Virginia State Police-Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
