Harrisville Resident Indicted for
Manufacturing Marijuana Plants

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 56 year old Harrisville, West Virginia, resident was named in an Indictment returned on May 5, 2009, by a Federal Grand Jury sitting in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that ARTHUR BUCHANAN was named in an Indictment charging him with manufacturing more than 100 marijuana plants from the Fall of 2006 until November 8, 2006, in Ritchie County, West Virginia.

If convicted, BUCHANAN faces a maximum penalty of five to 40 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000.

The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley. The case was investigated by the West Virginia State Police.

It should be noted that the charges contained in the Indictment are merely accusations and not evidence of guilt, and that each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
