Junior Resident Sentenced for Unlawfully Using
the Public Telephone System to Distribute Marijuana

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA — A 43 year old Junior, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on March 9, 2009, in United States District Court in Elkins by Judge Robert E. Maxwell.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that CHRISTOPHER JAMES KERNS was sentenced to five years probation. KERNS entered a plea of guilty on November 12, 2008, to one count of an Indictment charging him with using the public telephone system to distribute marijuana on June 27, 2006, in Junior.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner and was investigated by the West Virginia State Police-Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
