Maryland Resident Entered Guilty Pleas
To “Crack” Cocaine Charges

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 24 year old Maryland resident entered guilty pleas on June 8, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that QUINTEL OWENS entered guilty pleas to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base, also known as “crack,” within the Northern District of West Virginia and elsewhere; and possession with intent to distribute “crack” cocaine on October 18, 2008, in Monongalia County.

OWENS, who is currently in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years to life imprisonment and a fine of $4,000,000 on the conspiracy count; and a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000 on the possession count.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley. The case was investigated by the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
