Wheeling Resident Enters Plea of Guilty to
Firearms Violation

 

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 22 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on January 16, 2009, in United States District Court in Wheeling before Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that: ASHLEY NICOLE MARTIN entered a plea of guilty one count of providing a false statement in the acquisition of a firearm on February 6, 2008, in Wheeling. MARTIN, in connection with the acquisition of a Bersa, Model Thunder 380 pistol from Pete’s Gun and Sports Shop, made a false statement by stating she was the actual buyer of the firearm when she was acquiring the firearm for another person. MARTIN, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Perri. The case was investigated by agents of the Bureau Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
