Three Fairmont Residents Entered Guilty Pleas
To Hydrocodone-Related Crimes

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — Three Fairmont, West Virginia, residents entered pleas of guilty on February 10 and 11, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that:

HAROLD MICHAEL BROWN, age 31, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone on February 27, 2008, in Fairmont. BROWN, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

LISA BROWN, age 42, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging her with using a person under the age of 18 in illegal drug operations on March 2, 2008, in Clarksburg. BROWN, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $500,000.

SHELBY SHAFFER, age 19, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging her with possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone on April 26, 2008, in Harrison County and Marion County. SHAFFER, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn Angus Morgan. The cases were investigated by the Harrison/Lewis County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, the Fairmont Police Department, the Grafton Police Department, the Granville Police Department, the Morgantown Police Department, and the Clarksburg Police Department. The Task Force consists of officers from the Clarksburg Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the Bridgeport Police Department, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
