Keyser Resident Entered Guilty Plea
To Threatening a Federal Witness

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 42 year old Keyser, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on April 3, 2009, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that DANIEL PAUL MCGREEVY entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with threatening a federal witness. On August 13, 2008, MCGREEVY called a witness in a federal case and threatened to hurt that witness because of their cooperation with the United States.

MCGREEVY, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Potomac Highlands Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigations, and Mineral County Sheriff’s Department.
