Wheeling Resident Enters Plea of Guilty to
Distributing Marijuana from Wheeling Island Residence

 

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 21 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on April 3, 2009, in United States District Court in Wheeling before Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that SHAIN HAUK entered a plea of guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana from December 29, 2008, to February 12, 2009, within 1,000 feet of Madison Elementary School. As part of his plea, HAUK has agreed to forfeit $25,990.70 of drug proceeds, two firearms, a set of scales, and a camcorder containing recordings of HAUK and another individual with currency and marijuana, all of which were seized by agents during a search at HAUK’s residence on February 12, 2009.

HAUK, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of one to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $500,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John C. Parr. The case was investigated by the West Virginia State Police-Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
