WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 28 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on March 31, 2009, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that TYRONE M. ALLEN was sentenced to 11 months imprisonment to be followed by two years of supervised release. ALLEN entered a plea of guilty on March 6, 2009, to one count of causing an individual to provide a false statement in the acquisition of a firearm on February 6, 2008, in Wheeling. ALLEN, in connection with the acquisition of a Bersa, Model Thunder 380 pistol, had an accomplice make a false statement by stating she was the actual buyer of the firearm when she was acquiring the firearm for ALLEN.

ALLEN was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Perri. The case was investigated by agents of the Bureau Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
