VICTOR MARK BALDWIN, 42, of Bremerton, Washington was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Tacoma to 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute. BALDWIN was charged federally May 13, 2009, and pleaded guilty November 13, 2009. At sentencing U.S. District Judge Benjamin Settle said “This is a serious offense. Not many federal crimes carry a mandatory minimum sentence; this one does.”

According to records filed in the case, BALDWIN’s home was searched in October 2008, after investigators reviewed witness statements and obtained a court authorized search warrant. One witness reported to police observing methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstasy and oxycodone for sale at BALDWIN’s home. During the search investigators seized methamphetamine, cash and drug paraphernalia. BALDWIN was sentenced to 90 months in prison in 2002 for manufacturing and delivering methamphetamine. Following the search of his home in October 2008, he sold oxycontin to a witness working with law enforcement.

In asking for a ten year prison term, Assistant United States Attorney Marc Perez wrote to the court “Baldwin was a long-time, sophisticated, and brazen drug dealer in Kitsap County. He was part and parcel of the methamphetamine scourge that has swept across the Kitsap Peninsula. Moreover, for at least two decades, he has displayed utter contempt for the law. Absolutely nothing has discouraged him from drug trafficking, not even the 90-month prison sentence that he received in 2002.”

The case was investigated by the Bremerton Police Department Special Operations Group and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Marc Perez.
