MAN SENTENCED TO 168 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF MINOR
Yakima – Today, James A. McDevitt, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, announced that Alden W. Starr, age 25, of the Yakama Nation Indian Reservation, was sentenced for sexually abusing a minor. Alden W. Starr was sentenced to a term of 168 months imprisonment, followed by 15 years of court supervision after he is released from prison. Alden W. Starr, an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation, sexually abused a 14-year old girl in May 2008. He has been in custody since January 29, 2009.
James A. McDevitt, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, said, “the United States Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Yakama Tribal Police Department, and the Yakima County Violent Crimes Task Force, are committed to protecting children and apprehending those who prey upon children living within the Yakama Nation Indian Reservation.”
This investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Yakama Tribal Police Department. The defendant was apprehended by the Yakima County Violent Crimes Task Force. The Yakima County Violent Crimes Task Force consists of law enforcement officers from the United States Marshals Service, Yakima Police Department, Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Department of Corrections, Sunnyside Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This case was prosecuted by Tom Hanlon, Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington.
