Virginia Beach Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Drugs and Machine Gun
NORFOLK, Va. – Christian J. Devine, 58, of Virginia Beach, Va., pleaded guilty today in Norfolk federal court to possession of a machine gun and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Devine faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison when he is sentenced on May 24, 2012.
Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement after Devine’s plea was accepted by United States District Judge Raymond A. Jackson.
In a statement of facts filed with the plea agreement, an extensive investigation utilizing an undercover agent led to multiple firearm sales by Devine who was engaged in the business of dealing firearms without a license. Search warrants executed at his home and storage space yielded 173 firearms, including eight (mostly WWII era) machine guns, Nazi memorabilia, a vintage Ku Klux Klansman’s robe, and 50 grams of cocaine packaged for distribution.
This case was investigated by the ATF. Special Assistant United States Attorney Cameron Rountree is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
