NORFOLK, Va. – Timothy W. Guess, 51, of Chesapeake, Va., was sentenced today in Norfolk federal court to 38 years and 4 months in prison for his conviction on firearms and drug charges. 

            Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement after Guess was sentenced by United States District Judge Mark S. Davis.  Guess had been convicted on December 10, 2010 after a jury trial.

            According to the evidence at trial, Guess was arrested while delivering methamphetamine and prescription drugs to a confidential informant in Norfolk.  Guess, a convicted felon at the time, was in possession of two firearms during the drug trafficking crime, which occurred in March 2010.

            This case was investigated by the Norfolk Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration.  Assistant United States Attorney Kevin Comstock and Special Assistant United States Attorney Cameron Rountree prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
