Chesapeake Man Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Possession of Child Pornography
NORFOLK, Va. – James Eddy, 34, of Chesapeake, Va., was sentenced to three years in prison for possession of child pornography. Eddy previously pled guilty to the charge on March 8, 2011.
Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement today. Senior United States District Judge Henry Coke Morgan, Jr. Eddy pronounced sentencing late yesterday afternoon.
According to court documents, Eddy was identified by the Chesapeake Police Department when he was caught filming women at a local tanning salon. A search of Eddy’s home resulted in law enforcement seizing his computer. Further analysis of the computer by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed that Eddy possessed numerous images of child pornography. ICE arrested Eddy on a criminal complaint on Jan. 20, 2011.
This case was investigated by ICE and the Chesapeake Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Elizabeth Yusi prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
