Chesapeake Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Child Pornography
NORFOLK, Va. - James Eddy, 34, of Chesapeake, Va., pleaded guilty today to one count of possession of child pornography.
Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and John P. Torres, Special Agent in Charge for ICE, Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Washington, D.C., made the announcement after the plea was accepted by Senior United States District Judge Henry Coke Morgan, Jr. Eddy faces a maximum of 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on June 9, 2011.
According to court documents, Eddy was identified by the Chesapeake Police Department when he was caught filming women at a local tanning salon. A search of Eddy’s home resulted in law enforcement seizing his computer. Further analysis of the computer by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed that Eddy possessed numerous images of child pornography. ICE arrested Eddy on a criminal complaint on Jan. 20, 2011.
This case was investigated by ICE and the Chesapeake Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Elizabeth Yusi is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
