U.S. Attorney, ICE To Announce Charges Against Violent Fraudulent Document Trafficking Ring

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RICHMOND, Va. – Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and John Morton, Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, will hold a press conference TOMORROW, FEB. 24, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. to announce charges against a highly sophisticated and violent fraudulent document trafficking organization based in Mexico with cells in 18 cities and 11 states, including three cells in Virginia.

            Experts from the Forensic Document Laboratory (FDL) will be available after the press conference to give a background briefing on counterfeit documents. The FDL, established in 1978, is the only U.S. crime laboratory specializing in the scientific authentication, examination, and research of travel and identity documents and related issues.
